Rooms for Rent - Now Open!
The first month of renting out rooms in Sabang, Puerto Galera, Philippines has been challenging yet rewarding.
Challenging in the sense that it took some time and a lot of hard work to get things done:
- Create a website
- Take photos of the guest rooms/property
- Get on social media
- Update existing Google MyBusiness account
- Get listed and accept bookings on Airbnb, Agoda and Booking.com
- [IMPORTANT] make sure that the hired housekeeper cleaned and maintained the guest rooms according to spec.
BUT the most challenging part was waiting for confirmed bookings. You see, everyone who knows me [bdp] would say that I'm impatient. Hey, I'm learning not to be. Kind of. I think. But yes, it's counting the days and rooms already booked and locked versus the target that I have to meet to make it a profitable business.
Renting out accommodations, especially in Sabang, Puerto Galera isn't easy - but it's rewarding.
The reward on our first month of operating the business wasn't the profit [lack of?] - it was hearing positive feedback from guests that the rooms we're renting out are exactly what they need and want as scuba divers. Very clean, comfortable and priced just right. The reviews and feedback about our accommodations was enough to let us know that we're on the right track and it's just a matter of time before we fill this place up. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
I'm risking sounding like a broken record but it's the truth. There is a very huge gap between high-end expensive accommodations in the area and cheap unpleasant rooms. We know this because we've been going to Sabang, Puerto Galera for the last 5 years and have never seen room rentals that are pefect for scuba divers that strike the perfect balance between cost and cleanliness + comfort + style.
A big thank you to everyone who stayed with us on our first month!
